Our Top 5 Drugstore Makeup Must Haves
With a few days of Ulta's 21 days of beauty sale left, it's safe to say my makeup addiction is in full force. Sure, I go for the sale of the day but I'm instantly sucked into the other displays. With so much time spent wandering the aisles, I've found myself in areas of the store I don't typically gravitate towards- the main one being the drugstore side of Ulta! I've compiled a list of my top 5 favorite drugstore finds!
As a makeup artist, I like to have lots of lip colors to offer to my brides. As seasons and trends change, it can get tricky to have enough options to offer. My brides need something that will last all day, yet not dry out their lips. When my fellow bridal stylist and friend told me about this lip product, I knew I had to try it out on myself. I started with a basic shade I knew I'd love on myself for everyday use and by the end of the day I was ready to fill my cart up with every shade they offered! My lip color stayed on all day (I actually had to use makeup remover to get it off), didn't dry out my lips like most stains do, and it didn't crack! The first shade I purchased was Bare Maximum as a good everyday lip color, but I'll be adding the majority of the line to makeup kit soon!
It's safe to say this primer is my new holy grail product. It fills in my pores, making them appear smaller as well as allows my makeup to stay in place all day. I first learned about this product when watching a video on YouTube comparing this primer to a primer by a very high end brand, Tatcha. The price difference was $8 vs. $50. I was glued to the screen waiting for the final review and to my surprise, the YouTuber felt the 2 products were extremely comparable. Cue the scene where I'm mindlessly shopping at Ulta and I see this little beauty in front of me. I knew I had to try it for myself and I'm so glad I did. My only regret is not buying more of it! E.L.F is sold out of this primer on their website as is Ulta. I did find an amazon listing for it (which I've linked) for $20 if you just can't wait to get your hands on it. In my opinion, it's still worth the $20 and I'll likely go ahead and purchase it for that price if they don't restock it before I run out of my current stock!
You guys. This highlighter is everything. I'd never worn a highlighter this shade before and it has totally changed my face game. I normally use more gold toned highlighters on myself, but my personal one was broken and I borrowed my friends that morning. The shade of this particular highlighter is more cool toned with pops of blues and pinks. I was super hesitant to try it out and even once it was on I wasn't sure. A few hours later that morning's bride arrived and one of the first things out of her mouth was " I LOVE YOUR HIGHLIGHTER! I want my cheeks to look exactly like yours!" From there, the theme of the morning (well besides the Bride's big day) was to make the bridal parties cheeks look like mine. Not only is the color of this highlighter absolutely stunning, it feels buttery soft on my skin!
I found this gem through an online review from a bridal stylist in my business group. In the past, I'd spent up to $40 on mascara only to hate it. My most often purchased mascara at the time was Too Faced's Better Than Sex (BTS) mascara. I'd heard Lash Paradise was a dupe for BTS and I knew for the price point, I had to check it out! So far, I'm loving it! It applies and wears incredibly similar to BTS. I've very recently discovered the lash primer that was created to pair together. Since I work with blow dryers and heat tools near my face daily, I always opt for the primer option to prevent black smudges from appearing under my eyes.
This foundation has been circling around in the beauty community for quite sometime. People are in shock at how well it works! I'm not at all a big fan of drugstore foundations, but I'm alllllll about this one! It's a full coverage foundation that truly makes it appear as if I don't have pores. It lasts all day long and doesn't get cakey, which is often an issue I have with full coverage foundations since I have dry skin. The only downside to this (like all drugstore foundations) you aren't able to try your shade out before you buy it. They do offer a very wide range of tones, so if you take your time it's possible to find your perfect match!
Do you have any must have drugstore products I should add to my list?! I'd love to hear about them!
