Wedding Planning Season is Full Bloom

All of the recent Valentine engagements means March is officially wedding planning season! At Uplifted, we LOVE all aspects of the wedding process. We work so closely with Brides, from the time of the engagement all the way up to the I Do's, so we hear all of their wedding planning struggles and successes. At times, we like to think of ourselves as wedding experts. This month we have included some of our favorite tips and tricks we have learned from our Brides over the years, as well as how to prepare for your styling session with us!

As much as we love Pinterest, I think we can all agree this social media platform allows us to get a bit carried away. While those monogrammed water bottles are completely adorable, they can quickly break the bank. The best wedding planning advice we have ever recieved was to pick the top 3 things that matter to you and spend the bulk of your money there. Remember, the thing your guests are going to remember most is if they had a good time and if the Bride and Groom did as well!

All too often, we see Brides come into the salon the day of their wedding being pulled in a million different directions. Our very best advice is to hire what we like to call a "point person". This could be a day of coordinator or a trusted person from your personal life. This person will need to be well informed on all wedding details, your time line, and have all the contact information for vendors. They'll need to be up to speed on all details so that any questions during the day will be able to be pointed in her direction and off of the Bride's plate. As the Bride, it can be hard to let go of the control. We totally get it, you have worked so hard on this day and the thought of letting someone else take the reigns makes your stress level go through the roof. Trust us when we say, we promise you will be so much happier the day of your wedding if you don't have 10+ people asking you never ending questions. The big day is about you: Let go, take it all in, and have fun!

At Uplifted Salon, we strongly encourage you to schedule your day of wedding hair and make up no later than 4 months before your wedding. This not only will give you ample time to lock in your date, but it gives us plenty of time to make sure we have enough stylists and makeup artist on hand to accommodate you and your bridal party in a timely manner! We pride ourselves in making sure our wedding parties get in and out of the door and to the wedding on time (if not early). When you reach out to us to secure your wedding date, we will have you come in for a consultation where we will discuss your wedding day details, go over our contract, have you pay your deposit, and book your trial!

As mentioned, we have a love-hate relationship with Pinterest! We love when our Brides bring in 2-3 images of styles they love and envision for their wedding day hair. When scrolling for those images, be sure the model has similar hair, texture, and length to yours. This is going to allow the stylist to get your hair as similar to that image as possible. While we love these inspiration images, we also feel it's important to note how much we love to make the hair style your own; 2-3 different images will allow us to combine different parts of each image to create a completely stunning, completely you up-do! Wondering when you should schedule your trial for? We love when our brides come in for their trial about 3-4 weeks before the wedding day ( Bonus points if you have your dress fitting in the same day.). This is close enough to the wedding day to where your skin tone won't change much nor will your color or length, but also gives enough time to alter your cut or color need be to customize it to your day of style.

Check us out on Facebook all month on our live videos where we will talk about some of our favorite hair and makeup looks for weddings as well as helpful tips and tricks to ensure you are 100% camera ready & stress free on your big day!

Happy Planning,

- Uplifted Salon

P.S If you are still looking to lock down a vendor or two, be sure to ask us for our preferred vendors list! These are companies we not only love working with and trust, but we can assure you they will go above and beyond to meet all of your expectations!
